Reese Witherspoon and Jake Gyllenhaal are on a path to the altar.

Us Weekly reports in its latest issue, on newsstands now, that Gyllenhaal has quietly moved into Witherspoon’s $5 million L.A. home and is already part of her fiercely guarded family.

The actor, 27, is even helping to raise her two kids – Ava, 8, and Deacon, 4 – from her former marriage to Ryan Phillippe.

“Marriage is definitely what they are working toward,” a source close to the actress, 32, tells Us of the couple who’ve been together for a year.

“They literally don’t want to spend any time away from each other,” a Witherspoon pal adds.

After a couple of false launches, DreamWorks is putting a new pilot in the cockpit of its untitled moon project.

Up-and-coming scribe Dan Mazeau has been hired to redraft the action film about lunar colonization that is slated to star Jake Gyllenhaal. Doug Liman, who will direct the film, wrote an original screenplay with John Hamburg (”Along Came Polly”). “Black Hawk Down” author Mark Bowden revamped that script.

Now Mazeau is on board to try to bring it in for a landing with a different take “based on an original story by Liman, Bowden and Simon Kinberg,” according to the studio.

A gay entertainment website’s list of men its readers find sexually attractive has a heterosexual as the ‘most wanted’.

But while Jake Gyllenhaal was the top choice, himself the star of iconic gay movie Brokeback Mountain, those joining him in the top slots of “Hot 100? list have something in common: they are out and proud.

UK-based actor John Barrowman is named number two, and he is joined by newly de-closeted Brothers & Sisters actor Luke MacFarlane and Neil Patrick Harris of How I Met Your Mother and Doogie Howser fame.

Although rumors of wedding bells have circulated around Jake Gyllenhaal and Reese Witherspoon for months now, a new report in OK! magazine claims Jake is interested in more than a wife — he’s ready to start a family, too.

“(Jake) knows he might be jumping the gun thinking of kids, but he knows that Reese is the one,” a friend of the actor told the magazine. “He laughs and says he needs to propose and do this the right way. It really is first comes love, then comes marriage — cheesy as that sounds, it’s the way he thinks!”

It seems Jake’s grown so fond of playing part-time dad to Reese’s two children, 8-year-old Ava and 4-year-old Deacon, he can’t wait to expand the family. And Reese thinks he’s ready for the job, according to another source.
